If you don't want to pay yearly, then they would charge you much more and may be you will end up paying 2-3 times the fees in a year. So just go for annual plan.
If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website, I got more than 100 websites in about 6 months' time), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account.

When you say ISP do you mean hosting yourself from home using your ISP or do you mean like a shared hosting plan at a hosting company? If it's a shared hosting plan then the dedicated server will be faster and can handle more simultaneous page requests. You should get a dedicated server if you have alot of traffic. They have recient versions of PHP and MySQL installed. They also have a reasonalbe set of pre-installed apps. The control panel is not cpanel (a plus in my book.)
If you looking for unlimited domains, I use Hardhathosting.net. They are pretty cool. One advantage of these guys is that you have a Virtual Dedicated Server (VDS) so if someone else locks up their MySQL server, it doesn't pull you down. They use the Sphera control panel which is pretty cool compaired to most I've seen (way better than cpanel) though some of their apps are dated. The people who run the place and the techs are very cool.
I haven't used them yet, but dreamhost.com advertises some well priced packages that seem reasonable.
That's at least 60 hours of research, and I won't get paid a nickel for any of it.

One advantage of these guys is that you have a Virtual Dedicated Server (VDS) so if someone else locks up their MySQL server, it doesn't pull you down. They use the Sphera control panel which is pretty cool compaired to most I've seen (way better than cpanel) though some of their apps are dated. The people who run the place and the techs are very cool.
I haven't used them yet, but dreamhost.com advertises some well priced packages that seem reasonable.

So far, I've found HostGator to be pretty responsive. Of course it also depends on your LEVEL of hosting. For example, if you're on a shared host, how many other sites are sitting on the same server? If any of THEM is getting a lot of traffic, then your site will be slow too. The only way around that is to get a dedicated host, and possibly defray the cost a little by sharing it with one or two other websites who you know and trust.

Mail hosting for a 40 employee company?
Hello. I am looking for an email hosting provider. My requirements are as follows:
- Need about 40 - 60 accounts
- Would like to be able to share 50 gigs or so mail space. (1 or 2 gigs per user is ok)
- Need to host only my mail domain (mail.mydomain.com) w/out requiring my web traffic (www.mydomain.com).
So far I have been somewhat stumped trying to find a place where you can pay to scale up. Alot of providers require all web traffic (www %26amp; mail) or they wont offer more than 2 - 5 gigs of space. I%26#039;m OK with POP3 or IMAP accounts and would like a web interface as well.
Can anyone offer any advice? So far, gmail for small business seems to be the only one that matches these requirements, but I%26#039;ve also heard that their service is flakey. Anyone use gmail for business?

I am a web designer with a business and need a very reliable hosting provider. I work with flash, fireworks, dreamweaver, and photoshop cs2. At first I was with yahoo until I foun out they did not allow .htaccess files, with globat, my site was down too much, I am with go daddy right now and I am trying to use a simple .htacces and .htpasswd file to protect a directory and the screen pops up, but it won%26#039;t let me into my site. I have a business to run and don%26#039;t have time for issues like these. i know that my code is correct and have tried several times, I even copied and pasted. Tech support was uinable to diagnose prob also. Any suggestions for another hosting provider that will allow monthly payments. i don%26#039;t want to lock in anywhere until I know I will be satisfied.
