Is this considered SSL for web hosting?

I was told I will need SSL if I'm going to be recieving peoples credit card information. Is this considered SSL?

A secure server with a shared certificate means that your secure area would be located at https://xdomain.merchantquest.net/, using our certificate.

For Example using [acme.com]: https://xacme.merchantquest.net

I also have a choice to use my own... I'm a little confused. Thanks
Is this considered SSL for web hosting?
SSL ( Secure Sockets Layer ) provides a secure communications on the Internet for such things as web browsing, e-mail, Internet faxing, instant messaging and other data transfers. If you want to share a certificate with a provider, you may. This will make the setup easier and less expensive, but you will have some limits to what you can do. If you want your own, this will cost more and add complications to the setup process, but you will be free to do whatever you choose.

Yes, that would work. Using your own will work too, but is more work - you have to have a trusted authority sign your certificate.
